dc.descriptionWe have experimentally observed superluminal and infinite group velocities in bulk hexagonal two-dimensional photonic bandgap crystals with bandgaps in the microwave region. The group velocities depend on the polarization of the incident radiation and the air-filling fraction of the crystal.
