dc.descriptionWe show how the spatial macroscopic entanglement equivalent to the off diagonal long range order (ODLRO) implies the Meissner effect and flux quantisation for a superconductor. It is argued by analogy with superconductors that the Higgs field must also be entangled in the same way. Internal (spin) entanglement is shown to be irrelevant within this context, although it can of course also be computed.
