| dc.description | An explanation of stability of fireballs is proposed based on quantum effects in a thin surface layer of negatively charged plasma surrounding a positive kernel of a fireball. We construct a quantization of the geodesic flow on the sphere and study the quantum statistics of fermions confined to a spherical surface. Analogy with the BCS theory of superconductivity is explored; spectral gap is estimated. | |
