dc.descriptionIn the past thirty years the Near-Earth Neutral Line model for substorms has been proven to be correct in its basic assumption, i.e., that a new neutral line is created near the Earth during substorm onset. Yet there have also been numerous changes and additions to this model, which were necessary to give a more complete and deeper understanding of the substorm process. This process is still continuing.
