Giant resonances under extreme conditions
Abstract
Description
The theoretical description of nuclear resonances at zero and finite temperatures is presented. The following issues are addressed:
1) Giant dipole resonances (GDR) in highly excited nuclei, including both low and high regions of temperature. The results of calculations are obtained within the phonon-damping model, thermal shape-fluctuation model including thermal pairing, and compared with experimental data.
2) The electromagnetic cross sections of the double GDRs (DGDR) in Xe-136 and Pb-208. The results obtained in theoretical calculations are compared with the experimental data for the DGDR cross sections in exclusive measurements at near-relativistic energies.
3) GDR and pygmy dipole resonances (PDR) in neutron-rich nuclei, where the effect of coupling of the GDR to complicated configurations on the PDR is analyzed.
