Shift and broadening of sodium nS-3P and mD-3P transitions in high pressure NaCd and NaHg discharges

dc.descriptionWe report measurements of the Stark shifts and Stark widths of sodium spectral lines corresponding to nS-3P and mD-3P transitions. Measurements have been made on AC driven high pressure NaHg and NaCd discharges. Electron density has been determined from the measurements of the Stark shift of sodium 7S-3P spectral line. The electron temperature and the density of neutral particles have been determined analyzing the shape of the measured sodium atomic lines, comparing the calculated and the observed line profiles. Electron density and temperature range from 6x1021 to 1x1022 m-3, and from 3800 to 4100 K respectively. Dependeces of measured Stark shifts and Stark widths on electron density and temperature hace been investigated. The final results have been compared with available theoretical and experimental data.
