It was found in this paper that the dominant component of the wave function of the second 0^+ state of 4^He and the corresponding component of the 3^H+p channel have different spatial permutation symmetries. This fact will hinder the wave function to extend from the interior region to the outgoing channel and will lead to a narrower width.
