| dc.description | A new 5-dimensional Classical Unified Field Theory of Kaluza-Klein type is formulated using 2 separate scalar fields which are related in such a way as to make the 5-dimensional matter-geometry coupling parameter constant. It is shown that this procedure solves the problem of the variability of the gravity coupling parameter without having to assume a conformal invariance. The corresponding Field equations are discussed paying particular attention to the possible induction of scalar field gradients by Electromagnetic Fields. A new correspondence limit in which the field equations lead to the usual Einstein-Maxwell equations is obtained. This limit does not require the usual condition that the usual scalar field be constant. | |
