dc.descriptionGenetic connections between anomalous X-ray pulsars (AXPs) or soft gamma ray repeaters (SGRs)and supernova remnants (SNRs) can hold important clues to the nature of these objects through the properties of the associated SNRs. We examine various criteria jointly to assess the reliability of possible connections. 3 AXPs and 2 SGRs are most probably genetically connected with SNRs. Distances and ages are discussed and their likely ranges are indicated.
