| dc.description | We consider the most general class of teleparallel theories of gravity quadratic in the torsion tensor, and carry out a detailed investigation of its Hamiltonian formulation in the time gauge. Such general class is given by a three-parameter family of theories. A consistent implementation of the Legendre transform reduces the original theory to a one-parameter theory determined in terms of first class constraints. The free parameter is fixed by requiring the Newtonian limit. The resulting theory is the teleparallel equivalent of general relativity. | |
