dc.descriptionConsidering the vacuum as characterized by the presence of only the gravitational field, we show that the vacuum energy density of the de Sitter space, in the realm of the teleparallel equivalent of general relativity, can acquire arbitrarily high values. This feature is expected to hold in the consideration of realistic cosmological models, and may possibly provide a simple explanation to the cosmological constant problem.
