dc.descriptionUsing Maruyama's theory of elementary transformations, I show that the Brauer group surjects onto the cohomological Brauer group for separated geometrically normal algebraic surfaces. As an application, I infer the existence of nonfree vector bundles on proper normal algebraic surfaces.
