| dc.description | This is a short review of classical solutions with gravitating Yang-Mills fields in $D>4$ spacetime dimensions. The simplest SO(4) symmetric particlelike and SO(3) symmetric vortex type solutions in the Einstein-Yang-Mills theory in D=5 are considered, and their various generalizations with or without an event horizon, for other symmetries, in more general theories, and also in $D>5$ are described. In addition, supersymmetric solutions with gravitating Yang-Mills fields in string theory are discussed. | |
