The static and heavy quark potentials are introduced and the applicability of the non-relativistic and adiabatic approximations are discussed. The roles of so-called hybrid potentials are explored and we comment on the QCD analogue of the QED Lamb shift.Invited talk presented at ``4th International Conference on Quark Confinement and the Hadron Spectrum'', Vienna, 3--8 July 2000, 12 pagesHigh Energy Physics - PhenomenologyHigh Energy Physics - LatticeHigh Energy Physics - TheoryNuclear TheoryQCD Potentiologytext
