The new representation Salpeter equation for vector mesons is proposed. Studying the $τ\toρν$ decay theexpression for $ρ$-meson leptonic decay constant $f_ρ$ isobtained. It is shown that quark model describes on a satisfactory level both theconstant $f_ρ$ and the masses of other charged vector mesons.
