This polarization arises from the highly anisotropic and correlated dynamic mixing of the $s$ and $p$ electronic levels ($\sim1$%). The magnetic polarization introduces a small paramagnetic correction, of $1-0.1$%, to the static susceptibility of condensed $^3$He.
